Uttarakhand Assembly on Wednesday handed a bill that bars each person having more than youngsters from contesting panchayat elections. The Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2019, was passed unanimously with a voice vote in the state assembly after the Opposition Congress staged a walkout protesting a specific issue. The new law bars candidates from having more than youngsters and stipulates educational qualifications that one must have attained before contesting the panchayat polls.
The invoice’s timing is critical because panchayat elections in Uttarakhand are scheduled for later this year.
The regulation becomes effective when it gets approval from Governor Baby Rani Maurya.
WHAT IS THE 2-CHILD CONDITION?
The Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2019 states that any individual who has greater than dwelling kids won’t be eligible to contest the panchayat elections.

Relaxation has been given to ladies and people belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). The minimum schooling qualification for girls and SC/ST (men) is that the person must have surpassed Class eight. For SC/ST (ladies), it is Class five.
WHAT ABOUT URBAN LOCAL BODIES?
As provided in the new legislation, the -baby’s condition and education qualifications could only be relevant to panchayat elections. The urban body polls will remain unaffected by using the brand-new law when notified.
